Our word of the week is eccentric.
According Merriam Webster Eccentric means:
deviating from conventional or accepted usage or conduct especially in odd or whimsical ways.
or
deviating from an established or usual pattern or style.
I love the idea of being eccentric. It is our eccentricities that define our individuality. I think that most of us have some degree of eccentricity but many people lack the confidence to embrace it. Instead they sacrifice their true selves in order to impress others and conform to society’s standards.
I feel I am eccentric and like to travel to the beat of my own drum and make no apologies for it. When I was a teen or young woman I didn’t necessarily want to be different … had to be like everyone else, but that’s true for all young folks I think don’t you? I am enjoying your Word of the Week Word feature Ruth.

I think it’s that way with many of us. As we mature we become more comfortable with who we are and worry less about what others think.

It is a good way to be … maturity makes us better people in my opinion as we feel more comfortable in our skin finally.

It seems my inability to stay in the box has been a very good thing and one that causes difficulties with others. I would not change who I am it took too long to get here. Weird eccentric odd stubborn or not its who I am.

God doesn’t put us in boxes. In fact I think He rejoices when we use those odd gifts that He gives us to break out of societies norms.

Eccentricities, quirks, weirdness I have embraced mine for years. I really think people admire the ones who dance to their own drum and follow their heart. So many times I hear others say ” I’d be afraid to try ” . I would rather try than wonder “what if “
