Monthly Inspiration

Hello and Welcome. WOW! July is upon us and already the year is half over. Today I’m sharing some inspiration for our gardening season.

“A garden is a grand teacher. It teaches patience and careful watchfulness; it teaches industry and thrift; above all, it teaches entire trust.” – Gertrude Jekyll

“Gardens are not made by singing ‘Oh, how beautiful!’ and sitting in the shade.” – Rudyard Kipling

“A garden requires patient labor and attention. Plants do not grow merely to satisfy ambitions or to fulfill good intentions. They thrive because someone expended effort on them.” – Liberty Hyde Bailey

“Gardening is cheaper than therapy and you get tomatoes.” – Unknown

“The Earth laughs in flowers.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

“If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.” – Cicero

Thanks for visiting and Happy July!

  1. Awesome quotes ! I love the Kipling one. My favorite is probably the hymn “In The Garden ” …….”and He walks with me, and He talks with me, and He tell me I am his own.” 🎵🎶🎵

  2. They were all great quotes Ruth – my favorite was “Gardening is cheaper than therapy and you get tomatoes.” – Unknown. Your garden is coming along nicely. You might get some rain Tuesday night, so you don’t have to use the windmill then back to heat and storms on the weekend and early next week, so less work for you.

    1. Thanks, Linda. That’s the one my husband mentioned as well. You two seem to think alike. 🙂
If we don’t get that rain we will probably have to water before the weekend. We are just grateful that things bounced back after the three inches of rain we got. Thing were looking pretty iffy.

      1. Yes, we think alike – a nice and funny quote as well. I think we’ll get lots of rain Saturday into Sunday and Monday as well. Yes, you’re lucky as I remember once your garlic was in bad shape after heavy rains. I listen to WWJ AM radio for the news and they have a feature called “Weather Wednesday” every week at 4:45 p.m. Today the meteorologist was asked if all Summer was going to be as hot as it’s been so far and he said yes, especially August. Well August is always hot anyway, but all of July too? Not what I wanted to hear. I hope that doesn’t stress out the trees like last year.

      2. Well, that’s too bad as the rain today seemed like it was spotty, but thank goodness we’re getting some rain this weekend … I’d have preferred rain Friday night. We have people setting off fireworks in the neighborhood for an entire week and to be honest they have been setting them off since Memorial Day.
