I planted Crocus bulbs in the fall of 2018. Since none came up last year I assumed that the squirrels had dug up the bulbs. What a delight it is to see that our very first flower this year is a crocus. 🙂

Poor squirrels get blamed for everything! (Just kidding – when we first moved here, my father bought tulip bulbs from Holland – don’t know if it was Hollard, Michigan or the real Holland – I was still a kid – the squirrels dug up all of them and my father found them all over the yard half-chewed, all except one which came up for years.) Spring arrives with everything else in turmoil.

It’s only been in the past two or three years that I have realized that squirrels could be a problem. Before that I always blamed deer and rabbits. We are seeing and increase in the squirrel population though so I guess they are becoming more of a problem.

Lovely! We have snowdrops blooming all over our gardens right now, and the first daffodils peeking up from the ground!

Our daffodils should start opening this week but it’s nice to have something even earlier.

Thanks. I’m use to daffodils being our first flowers to bloom so I was thrilled to something even before them.
