First Flower

I planted Crocus bulbs in the fall of 2018. Since none came up last year I assumed that the squirrels had dug up the bulbs. What a delight it is to see that our very first flower this year is a crocus. 🙂

  1. Poor squirrels get blamed for everything! (Just kidding – when we first moved here, my father bought tulip bulbs from Holland – don’t know if it was Hollard, Michigan or the real Holland – I was still a kid – the squirrels dug up all of them and my father found them all over the yard half-chewed, all except one which came up for years.) Spring arrives with everything else in turmoil.

    1. It’s only been in the past two or three years that I have realized that squirrels could be a problem. Before that I always blamed deer and rabbits. We are seeing and increase in the squirrel population though so I guess they are becoming more of a problem.
