When I learned of the opportunity to go visit my sister (K.C) and brother-in-law for a couple of days I knew it was something I couldn’t pass up. It was two years ago this month that they retired and moved to their home in Tennessee. Since then, I had seen them one time when they returned to Michigan for a visit. I had not yet been to visit them.
A few weeks ago, my other sister (#3) told me that she and her husband had decided to take a 4-day weekend and go to Tennessee for a visit. They invited me to go along. It would be a short visit because both the first day and the fourth day we would spend 11 hours in the vehicle traveling there and back. My husband would stay home with Ranger to care for the chickens and all of the garden plants.
It is truly a spectacular part of the country/world that they live in, but the best part was being able to spend this time with some of my favorite people.
I’ve decided to share some of my photos without narration – the beauty speaks for itself.

Thanks for visiting. Are you planning a vacation this year?
I love these photos Ruth. For some reason I thought you lived in that state. Your farm back home reminds me of Tennessee with the green and your pond turtle. What a great adventure, thank you for sharing. I love all the trees.

No, we live in Michigan (The Great Lakes State). We still have the lush green summers and lots of trees and plants. While TN gets cold winters they don’t last as long as ours do. We also don’t have the mountains like they do in Eastern TN.

I like that impromptu trip to spend with your “favorite people” and all the pictures were gorgeous – no explanation needed as you said. Lovely flowers and great scenery. My favorite photo was the one of the three of you (you and your sisters … well, four if you count the pooch). That German Shepherd puppy is adorable!

Thanks Linda. The puppy’s name is Misty. She is 12 weeks old and such a good dog for being so young.

She was very cute Ruth and being so well behaved at 12 weeks old is a real plus.

Wanted to thank you for sharing pictures as one in particular brought a smile to my face. Used to work with KC at Richmond KMart. We used to live in Kentucy on top of a mountain with Job Corps job. One of your pictures showed a rock jutting into the water and low level gently flowing water. It was almost identical to the creek we used to take our son to play in while living there. He was like 3 then… now he is 61… so its an old but good memory.😀😃I live in Missouri now near my daughter and family. Tennesee is a beautiful scenery state but all states have some beauty feature about them.😀 Thanks again for sharing. Enjoyed your comment on how far and how much time involved to go that distance.😀

You are very welcome, Patricia. I appreciate you leaving a comment to let me know this brought back fond memories for you. The picture was taken at Elk River falls. Indeed, there is beauty all around us. We must remember to take the time to enjoy it. 😀❤

Thanks! My sisters and I have always been close so it was difficult when she moved so far away. I am thankful we were able to have this time together. What a beautiful part of the world you live in. I’m looking forward to reading your posts as well. 🙂

I’m so happy for you that you got to go, relax, and spend some time with your sisters.
Tennessee is gorgeous, but I am yet to make it out there. It’s been pulling me for a few years. Maybe soon.
Vacation? We shall see. Just yesterday I settled on Colorado. Before that, it was Oregon. Fingers crossed SOMETHING works out. I NEED to get away soon.

What a special time, Ruth! We also take a small vacation with one sister in September. I love that all the cousins get to spend time together! (This isn’t all of them!😂).

Gorgeous photos!! I’m so glad you had a chance to visit, along with other family members. Judging by the scenery, you couldn’t have been very far away from me. I’m 20 miles from the TN/NC border. That’s marvelous that you could visit while hiking in such a lovely area.

Thanks Anne! I did think of you – especially when visiting the waterfall. They are in Mountain City. We did do some shopping in Blowing Rock and lunch in Boone N.C. on Monday. It is odd to me that even though something is 15 miles away it can still take an hour to get there. In Michigan if something is 15 miles I figure it will be about a 20 minute drive.
