I’m no psychic but –
I see cherry pie in our future.
Our one cherry tree is not at the farm but grows right next to our deck at the house. It is loaded with ripening cherries.
It’s been a couple of years since we have had a good cherry crop. Last year the blossoming tree faced several nights of freezing temperatures, then it fell prey to the gypsy moth caterpillars. Our crop was nil.
Our late warm up this year seems to be beneficial for this crop.
I suspect I will be making cherry pie next week. 🙂
Since I am exactly a week behind reading posts, you’ve liked made/eaten/enjoyed that cherry pie already Ruth!

That’s ok I’m behind in writing. You’re right I made the cherry pie and we have been enjoying it – yum! so good!!! I’ve also picked enough cherries for at least 4 more pies. 🙂

That’s good news – did you make the ice cream for it too Ruth? I remember you wrote about making ice cream a few years ago (I hope it was you)? You lucked out – better you making pies with them and not the robin eating them.

I didn’t make any ice cream. With prices of everything being so high that’s gonna be an extra special treat.

It’s ridiculous right now – ice cream is a special treat for sure!

Home made is best and hand picked even better. Enjoy

Now if it would just cool off so we can turn off the A/C and I can bake – I think that will be Thursday. 🙂

Same here, but the birds are starting to circle our tree—I hope they leave me some, especially since we also had so few last year!

I saw a robin steal a cherry yesterday. Now I know we will have to be vigilant in picking them as they ripen.

I used to love cherries, sadly they no longer love me. Perhaps swallowing the stones was a bad ide! Good luck with your pie making.

Thanks Rory. I watched a robin steal a cherry from the tree yesterday. Now I know what were up against. We must be vigilant in picking the ripe ones. 🙂 I always remove the pits before cooking or eating.

Very true Ruth, birds are the biggest non-human predators to cherries

Yum! Enjoy, Ruth. BTW, I shared a bar of your soap with my daughter. She was thrilled and sure has enjoyed it!

Lucky you Ruth! But does it seem early for cherries in June? I always associate them with August. I find that in my garden/yard – some stuff is way early and other things behind, and somethings didn’t survive the winter/spring at all.

The tart cherries are early the sweet cherries are later in the summer. I would love to have a sweet cherry tree but we have not been able to keep one alive.
